Learn The History of Acupuncture

from:

The history of acupuncture is one of the most amazing stories you will hear. This is an ancient form of medicine that came close to being non-used. Yet, in the last two decades has seen a vast calling for it. As people lose faith in traditional or western medicine, they seek out alternative health treatments to help them to manage pain, overcome illness or to improve their quality of life. All of these things can help individuals to heal through natural methods.

The history of acupuncture dates back thousands of years. It is believed to be a type of medicine that was practiced even before records indicate it. In fact, some believe that the history of acupuncture dates back to the Taoist traditions where could have dates back 8000 years. During that time period, people would meditate. In doing so, they realized that there was a flow of energy in their bodies that moved within and without. During this time, Fu His lived and has since become a legend. He lived on the Yellow River. During this ancient time, he observed nature and developed the firs theories of yin-yang. Later, he would develop the Book of Change or I-Ching which will be used for many years as an outline of the trigrams.

The history of acupuncture can also be traced based on the evidence of needles found today. In some ruins found within China, needles can be found that date back to the New Stone Age. The New Stone Age was from 10,000 to 4000 years ago. During that time, people had developed the skills to refine stones into very thin needles. These were then used, it is believed as parts of the healing process. They were given a name of bian stone. This name represents a sharp tool that is used to treat disease.

In the history of acupuncture, there is several times where things became very important. For example, one of the most significant was the period of the Huang Di which was from 2697 to 2597. During that time, Huang Di and his physician Qi Bo worked to discuss and develop many of the traditional Chinese arts including acupuncture. The text, The Nei Jing (The Yellow Emperors Classic of Internal Medicine) would be developed which would serve as an important fixture in acupuncture as it outlines techniques, acupuncture points, needles and even descriptions of the meridians.

The history of acupuncture continues with the refinement of these processes as well as the creation of new methods of acupuncture. Today, there are many ways that they can be used, but all are based on these ancient methods.
